"Sandkit, wake up," mewed a tom that was poking Sandkit with his paw. "Sandkit, wake up, I want to go outside and play."

"Ashkit, stop poking me, so I can get up," she mewed. The pokeing stoped, so she stood up and shook the moss and ferns out of her fur. A white tom with dark gray feet, tail, muzzle, and ear was standing infront of her hoping up and down.

"Sandkit, lets go outside, please," he pleaded still jumping.

"Ok, fine, Ashkit," Sandkit replied. She followed Ashkit to the nursery enterance as he bounced with excitement.

"Don't go to far, you two," their mother, Yellowpad, meowed after them.

"Do you want me to go outside and watch them while you sleep, Yellowpad," meowed a long, white, furred she-cat from the nest beside Yellowpad.

"No, I trust Sandkit to keep Ashkit out of trouble," Yellowpad purred with amusment.

"Are you sure, remember how they acted when they saw Grayfur," the she-cat meowed.

"Snowblaze, you can go outside if you want to, but you don't have to," Yellowpad meowed.

"Mind as well,I need to strech my legs anyways," Snowblaze meowed before getting up and followed Sandkit and Ashkit outside.

"Hey, Sandkit, let's go find Frostpaw and Silverpaw," Ashkit mewed.

"Why, so you can moon over them again," Sandkit teased.

"No, and I never mooned over them," Ashkit snapped.

"Whatever, Ashkit, so why do you want to find them," Sandkit mewed.

"So the can teach us some fighting moves," Ashkit replied before racing off towards the apprentice den. "Hey, Frostpaw, Silverpaw, are you in there," Ashkit called into the den.

"Ashkit, be quiet someone could be sleeping in there," Sandkit hissed.

"Who is making all the noise out there," A cat growled from inside the den. A dark gray tom steped out of the den angerly.

"I told you someone was in there, Ashkit," Sandkit hissed. "Sorry, Darkpaw, we didn't mean to disturb you, Ashkit was looking for Silverpaw and Frostpaw."

"I don't care what you two were doing, you shouldn't be yowling into the apprentice den, esspecally if you're only kits," Darkpaw growled.

"Oh, Darkpaw, why do you have to be so mean," meowed a light gray she-cat with dark gray stripes. "I mean their only kits after all."

"Silverpaw," Ashkit exclaimed, jumping over to her.

"I don't care if their just kits, they shouldn't be near the apprentice den," Darkpaw hissed.

"Be nice, Darkpaw, esspecally because one of them could be your future leader," Silverpaw meowed, glancing over at Sandkit as she spoke.

"If anyone is going to become a future leader it will be me," Darkpaw meowed, glaring at Silverpaw and Sandkit.

"Not with that attitude, Darkpaw," Sandkit remarked, with Ashkit and Silverpaw letting out mrrow in amusement.

"Oh, shut up runt," Darkpaw snapped, Baring his teeth. Sandkit felt her tail fluff up twice it's normal size.

"I'm no runt," Sandkit hissed, baring her teeth, as well.

"You might want to watch it, runt, you should be picking on someone bigger than you," Darkpaw remarked before aiming a paw for her head, but Silverpaw stoped it.
